Shire is committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity in the conduct of its business. Our aim is to do the right thing at all times. Shire has no tolerance for bribery or corruption of any kind, whether of a government official or private individual. It is illegal and inconsistent with our values.
We expect all employees to live by these values. Shire employees are required to review and commit to our Code of Ethics annually which outlines the company’s commitment to doing business with integrity. The Code holds Shire employees responsible for knowing and following Shire’s policies and procedures to operate free from any form of bribery and corruption by employees, contractors and third-parties. All of our employees have access to our Anti-Bribery and Corruption policy and receive training on the policy when they join the company and annually thereafter. Additional trainings are administered for employees working in high-risk areas.
These risks are managed at the highest levels of our organization. Our Board of Directors has oversight for the prevention and detection of corruption and bribery at Shire, including policy development, training, monitoring, and audit. Our Chief Compliance and Risk Officer periodically reports to Shire’s Board of Directors on matters related to ethics and compliance. Additionally, we incorporate corruption and bribery into our risk assessment processes for our own operations and for our business partners. We use the findings of these assessments to focus our attention on the areas identified as high risk.
