Shire is committed to broadening medical and scientific knowledge pertaining to its products, disease states of interest and medical practice.
On certain occasions, Shire may participate in Collaborative Research, which is a type of research activity that may be conceived, designed, initiated, conducted, analyzed, and reported by Shire R&D in collaboration with a qualified external entity/investigator.
In addition to funding, Shire may provide resources or expertise to the collaboration.
Collaborative Research may include:
- Post-approval Medical Evidence Generation activities (e.g. observational research, including prospective studies, registries, and retrospective analyses)
- Diagnostic studies (categorized as interventional studies with financial support only) or device evaluation
- Preclinical research
