Shire Recognized for Global Environment and Social Responsibility
04 May 2011
Shire has been recognized again by the FTSE4Good Index Series that measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognized standards for corporate responsibility. In the most recent Index, released in March 2011 Shire met the FTSE4Good criteria for environmental management, human and labour rights, countering bribery and corporate governance.
“Shire is focused on a single purpose: to enable people with life-altering conditions to lead better lives. Our commitment to responsibility underpins this purpose,” explains Tatjana May, chair of Shire’s responsibility coordination team. “This manifests itself as both a set of tangible goals we strive to achieve built around running and growing a responsible business, and at the same time, is an expectation of our people and partners to behave with responsibility and integrity in all that we do. Shire’s inclusion in the FTSE 4 Good Index is an important recognition of this endeavour,” she said.
Created in 2001 and managed by FTSE Group, an independent global index company, the FTSE4Good Index Series is a series of benchmark and tradable indices for socially responsible investors. For more information, please visit http://www.ftse.com/Indices/FTSE4Good_Index_Series/index.jsp.
