Managing this process effectively is a core competence of Shire’s and will always be important, as we continue to expand our business through strategic alliances, acquisitions, and in-licensing. It’s all about behaving responsibly, understanding and mitigating against potential risks and protecting and building on our unique culture.
As we look to advance our goal of enabling people around the world with life altering conditions to lead better lives, we will continue to expand our geographical footprint, and the availability of our products, into new countries. In recent years, we have seen significant international growth, with offices now in 29 countries. With this growth comes a unique set of Responsibility challenges and opportunities. Doing business in new countries and new cultures brings new diversity to our business. Employees in these new countries have the potential to have a positive influence on Shire’s culture. It also provides the opportunity to offer life changing medication for people in need.
