Community engagement
Shire’s corporate giving through sponsorships and donations are driven by local sites and businesses. These activities – and the employee volunteerism that often accompanies them – are an important aspect of Shire’s role in the communities where our employees live and work. We care about neighborhoods we call home, and we take an active role in helping to support initiatives that benefit the community at large. We accomplish this in several ways, including involvement with chambers of commerce, local councils and interest groups that have a particular focus on health and life sciences.

Holistic support for patients seeking higher education
For many of our patients, the medical treatment of their condition is only one facet of the many challenges they face day-to-day. Navigating through challenges of formal education is difficult enough for most young people, but for those living with a rare disease or struggling with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) it can be even harder.
